Quarries partner with Finlay Scotland for higher tonnages |
| Ayrshire
based quarry company, Barr Quarries, have recognised the need to continually
invest in their quarrying operations by improving their screening
equipment. The investment was necessary to maximise their production
rates so that they could fulfil the commitments of their local contracts
and after careful consideration of the screening options available,
Barr Quarries decided to partner with Finlay Scotland Ltd and purchase
a Terex Finlay 883, a 683 and a 694.
Commenting on
their recent purchase, Andy Gillon, Engineering Manager for Barr
Quarries said, ‘we needed equipment that we knew wouldn’t
let us down. Finlay’s have been in this business a long time
and they have a good reputation for quality, production rates and
moreover I knew that we would receive 100% backup by Finlay Scotland.’
The Terex Finlay
883 is a high performance heavy-duty screening unit purchased for
the efficient, cost-effective processing of blasted materials. Barr
Quarries is using their 883 to handle their face rock, overburden
and various other quarry and waste commitments which required the
use of a high production, heavy duty ‘scalping’ in line
screen.
|
|
Although
it has been designed primarily for the recycling industry, the 883
is also suited to working in quarry materials, construction and
demolition debris, topsoil, timber and slag.
The different
types of screening media available for this machine allow it to
have this multi use role. Bofar Bars, Tines, Punch Plate or Mesh
can be fitted, in various sizes and configurations, to the Top Deck,
with either Cascade fingers or mesh to the Bottom. |
| The 883 has many
key features including a hardox steel apron feeder which allows all
feed sources to be handled with ease, 16’ x 5’ 2-Deck
heavy duty vibrating screen which can be fitted with meshes, punch
plate or cascade fingers, full integrated catwalk, long stockpile
conveyors and a large clearance between decks. The 883 is designed
to withstand the heavy demands of today’s quarrying and recycling
industries. |
|
Barr
Quarries also purchased 2 off Terex Finlay 683 Supertraks, a 2 Deck
screener fitted with a 12’ x 5’ Top Deck and 10’
x 5’ Bottom Deck; one to support their primary crushing line
and the second running in series with a Terex Finlay 694 Supertrak,
3 Deck screening unit fitted with a 20’ x 5’ Top Deck
and 16’ x 5’ Middle and Bottom Decks to form a mobile
aggregate production line.
These are working
together for final single size screening within their Tincornhill
Quarry and have proven to be a significant addition to their existing
fleet. Both machines have been fitted with dust covers to all main
line belts and hoppers which along with a combination of different
mesh types fitted to both machines, ensures an efficient process
regardless of the weather conditions as well as ensuring a high
compliance rate both in production and grading of material.
Terex Finlay
has also recently reinforced their commitment to continual product
development and product improvement of their screening range with
the introduction of a 984 Horizontal Screener. Fitted with a Cedarapids
20’ x 6’ heavy duty, triple shaft, 3-deck Screenbox,
the 984 is already making quite an impression due to high tonnages,
clean products, on site mobility, versatility and general ease of
use.
Traditionally
a screening company, Terex Finlay are now well established within
the crushing industry and have demonstrated that their commitment
to product development is deeply embedded in both crushing and screening
industries. |
